funny stuff

I couldn’t believe this was an actual press conference. See the humorous video too; it induced prolonged laughter.

So, I have been actively searching for legitimate reasons for optimism and, so far, have come up short. But I did stumble upon this story that will want to make you vomit.

I don’t know how this story ends, but Obama has unquestionably, thus far, fought valiantly, launching a masterful, nimble campaign, which has inspired a great number of people. For a politician, in our modern times, that is an impressive accomplishment that is deserving of praise. I think he just might be able to unite the Democratic party and put forward a strong, well-concerted, charismatic campaign for the November elections. But he faces a tough road ahead, with some powerful adversaries. May the force be with you Barack Obama.

what the f*#k?!?!?

I have no idea why nuclear weapons continue to be produced. [1][2] What good can come from their production? Can it cure disease? Or improve education? Or fix failing energy policies? Or facilitate improvement of human rights? Or aid in the maintenance of institutions that are functioning efficiently? Or bolster those that aren’t? Will it bridge the divide between those that have and those that don’t? Will it lessen the gap of inequity, hope and opportunity? Will it assuage the calamitous results of social integration, in an interconnected world, with the aforementioned inequities? Is there any positive benefit, within a long-term framework, that nuclear weapons bestow upon our planet?

We are in a situation now where on this planet, in this universe, we have created nuclear, and other lethal, weapons; and, we have inherited the benefits (whatever they may be within a particular time-frame) and the drawbacks. So you would think that the people who created this mess would be working assiduously to prevent this technology, whose sole purpose is to destroy not build, from falling into the wrong hands. Unfortunately, humans are prone to error, given enough time, and will not be able to curb the deleterious effects.

You would think that those with great power would be setting an example for the world, realizing that good deeds can be contagious. That kindness can be viral. But you would be wrong. I have been wrong.

So, I apologize for the use of an expletive in the title; but, seriously: What the fuck?

What we need to do is realize that we are all in this together. One species, on one planet, in the same basket. That is an inarguable fact. We need to stop the proliferation of these dangerous weapons, and help quell the inequities that could amplify or worsen their effects. Our survival is dependent upon it. Or at least a form of survival worth living for. Where creativity thrives, freedom lives, the passion and ingenuity of the human spirit is nurtured.

I want to scream that message to the world, so I can be heard. So the oscillations produced may suffuse the air, permeating the most dense material. So that the people in power, who are disconnected from reality could realize that a sense of urgency is needed, now.
